The new year is here, and you know what that means—New Year’s resolutions! Just like adults prioritize specific goals in the new year, kids can do the same for their hobbies and interests! Now is an excellent time for young dancers to think about the goals they want to achieve this year. Whether they want to ace their middle split or master pirouettes, there are many ways for them to improve with the help of their instructors. Below are a few tips for achieving 2024 dance goals.

Write Them Down!

Making a physical list of their goals for 2023 may help your child visualize what they want to improve on. It is easy to think of a million things you want to do differently in the new year, but putting pen to paper can help your child sort through their thoughts and narrow their goals into a manageable list. A written list can also remind your child throughout the year of what they set out to do in January. Consider placing the list in a prominent place, like on the refrigerator or a bulletin board, so they have a daily reminder to practice!

Talk to a Teacher

Consider talking with an instructor about your child’s dance goals for 2024. As an expert in dance, they may have tips for achieving those goals faster and more effectively. Your instructor may be able to recommend certain stretches or even specialized classes that will aid your child in achieving their desired objective.

Practice Makes Perfect

The best way to make sure you master new dance moves is to practice! Attending class is crucial, but practicing at home will help you improve as a dancer. Making a schedule for days you plan to practice is a great way to stay accountable.
